Recovery Centre of wild fauna

The Tahonilla Centre took care during last year of a total of 821 animals from different species like raptors, marine birds, waders, land birds, reptiles and mammals.

The Centre recovered a hundred of marine birds, 95 turtles of different species. Furthermore, the personnel of the Centre took care of 24 cetacean’s strandings from nine different species, which occurred on the Tenerife shore line.

On the other hand, the number of young Cory’s Shearwater recovered during this campaign was 1,563, of which 97% were released, which represents the greater number of palmipeds gathered from the beginning of the Recovery Centre.

The activities of the personnel of the Recovery Centre of Wildlife are divided between the care done to the animals which are recovered by citizens, public agencies or collaborators, diving centres, fishermen and leisure boats, and the care for the young specimens of Cory’s Shearwater which are recovered during the autumn.

Recovery Centre telephone: 922 25 00 02 or through the 112.
