Punta Luna

Diving from boat – easy level.
Punta Luna is one of the most full of fishes dive sites in the South of Tenerife.
It is located opposite the village of Las Galletas, at two minutes sealing from the port.

The anchor lays at 16m depth, on a rock which has the shape of a moon’s crescent… As soon as we get into the water, a great school of bastard grunts comes straight to the divers. In group, they come to beg the food they are used to get from dive centres in the area.

The rock changes into sand at about 20m depth. There, starts the ballet of common and round stingrays. Photographers are delighted. Attention, it is better to be equipped with a wide angle considering the size of some fishes!

Then, we move away in the south direction, to find at 22m depth a small sailing ship wreck of about fifteen meters length, the Estorné, sunk after having important damages. The wreck is very low on marine life.

Here is a video of the Wreck:

On our way back, we cross again some rays, and before going back to the anchor line, we are delayed a few moments between the rock, in search for moray eels and their cleaning shrimps.

A diving thus between 16 to 22m depth, where the use of Nitrox is advised to enjoy a maximum from it.
